Sports photography + custom trading cards

We have extended our photography services to cover sports for both kids and adults.

This is completely flexible. If you just need us to shoot photos, we can do that. If you already have a hi-resolution photo that you want us to design a card for, we can do that! You can choose from our template, or you can give us directions of how you want it to look and we'll create it for you.

Here's a sample "Mommy's MVP" sports card with your star athlete + his/her name! It will be printed on a 2.5x3.5 card just like the real thing. You can order 1, or a set. All sports and all ages are welcome! We have a package for a whole team as well. Email panfocus@sonic.net for rates and/or more details.

Slowly building

Recently, I obtained a EIN# for PanFocus Studios. And I'm also in the process of applying for a seller's permit. Slowly but surely, we're growing up.

I haven't had much chance to take photos lately, but I did try to do a couple of photowalks this week during my lunchbreaks from work. Unfortunately, San Carlos and Belmont are both dull towns for photography during the work week, so I must say "I went out photographing, and all I got was this flower shot."

My fulfillment with these photowalks is to simply practice and review my unedited photos. Being stuck in Silicon Valley all day is a challenge, and one day, I hope to make something interesting out of nothing.
There is a Union Cemetary deep in Redwood City that I've been meaning to go to, but it's just a bit of a far drive for me to take during a 1-hour break. I'm not sure what I can do with cemetary photography, and I'm too scared to look up photos tonight because it's midnight and I'm not in the mood to read anything related to the dead.

Photography workshop

It's been a very busy last 2 weeks for me that I haven't had the chance to share how my experience was at the Capturing True Emotions Photography Workshop was.

It was a daylong workshop which consisted of 4 hours of compressed tips and advice on ISO, shutter speeds, f-stops, light metering and compositions. Then 2 hours of a photo safari which I didn't join because I had a last minute rendezvous with my kids who were hanging out in the city with their dad.

It was a good workshop, I think, as there were many who were from all levels of photography. I picked up new tips and it was refreshing to hear a lot of what I already knew from a professional photographer. If anything, to be reassured of technical bits I've learned from practice, my own reading and my husband, was well worth my time.

Now the only challenge is: to take better photos.

I would like to take another workshop that talks about lighting: both natural/outdoors and artificial/indoors. I use a slave flash that works well for what I need to do, but I would like to learn more about it in a workshop setting.

Oh, and that rendezvous with my kids resulted in me being the only parent paparazzi at the playground, snapping away at my own kids (not the others). Here are a couple of the ones I like:

Bess & Zaldy's 10th Wedding Church Vows

We had an impromptu shoot a few days ago for a small, private wedding, and Egan took lead on photos while I had the record button pressed for video.

This is the second wedding we have done any work for. I'd like to do more! PanFocus Studios is offering special rates for weddings and other significant family events. There is no deadline for these rates since we need more work in this field to build up the portfolio.

More photos will be uploaded to our Facebook and Flickr. In the meantime, here are a couple of our favorites.
